Thoughtful wayfinding information systems guide people through environments and, if done right, will work with the psychology of the user, not against them.

Complex built environments, public realms, and urban centers have ever evolving systems. They’re found everywhere including City Centers & Entertainment Districts, Higher Education & Health Care Facilities, Luxury Residential & High-End Corporate Campuses, Bio-Medical & Research Facilities, and Federal & Local Government Complexes.

Navigation of these environments should be as stress free of an experience as possible. Imagine an airport, hospital, campus, or large transportation system without signage and symbols.... Semiotics is imperative.

Wayfinding design has been around for centuries, evolving from primitive methods of navigation to today’s sophisticated systems. From the earliest days of the human race, people have been using landmarks, maps, and other signs to orient themselves and find their way.

The ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphs to indicate directions, while the Romans used milestones to indicate the distances between cities. In the Middle Ages, travelers used signposts to indicate the direction and distance to different destinations. With the advent of the Industrial Revolution, wayfinding became even more important as cities grew and transportation networks became more complex.

Today, wayfinding is an essential part of the urban experience, providing guidance to people in unfamiliar environments. From airports and train stations to hospitals and universities, wayfinding systems are designed to help people find their way quickly and easily. By incorporating the latest technologies and design principles, wayfinding systems can make navigating complex environments safe and stress-free.
